Meet The Team

A Team You Can Trust

Richard and Brid are expert solicitors, who have worked in ‘partnership’ for over a decade, initially at a leading Legal 500 firm in London and then at a multi-office Criminal Law practice before transitioning from defence work to specialist lawyer roles within the RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) unit of the Crown Prosecution Service.

They have now returned to practising in criminal defence, drawing upon their extensive expertise and reaffirmed dedication to representing clients facing complex and serious allegations. Their comprehensive background enables them to offer incisive guidance during pre-charge engagement and to deliver exceptional advice and representation throughout all stages of the criminal justice process.

Richard Demczak

Richard is a highly experienced Solicitor Advocate who began his legal career at a prominent Legal 500 firm in London. He was subsequently appointed Partner at the firm’s Oxford office before taking on the role of Head of a multi-office criminal law practice serving Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.

Throughout his career, Richard has represented individuals across a broad spectrum of criminal matters, including high-profile and complex cases involving murder, both recent and historic sexual offences, drug-related crimes, fraud, and human trafficking. His client base has ranged from professionals to some of the most vulnerable members of society, reflecting his inclusive and compassionate approach to legal representation.

Seeking to further develop his expertise, Richard transitioned from defence to prosecution, joining the Crown Prosecution Service as a specialist lawyer within the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Team. This dual perspective—having worked extensively on both sides of the criminal justice system—equips him with a unique and strategic insight into case preparation and courtroom advocacy.

Together with Brid, Richard co-founded DE Law Ltd, where he now provides expert legal advice and robust defence for individuals under investigation or facing charges for serious criminal offences. He is known for his dynamic approach, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Richard has developed particular expertise in representing individuals accused of sexual offences, offering strategic guidance from the earliest stages of investigation through to trial. His depth of experience and tenacity make him a trusted advocate in some of the most challenging and sensitive areas of criminal law.

Janick Fielding

Janick Fielding is an exceptionally experienced, heavyweight barrister who has practiced the art of criminal defence for nearly 30 years. Respected for his powerful advocacy, tenacity and strategy, he is a barrister who consistently secures results in complex and serious cases.

An experienced trial advocate, Janick is most often called upon to fight when the odds are stacked against the client. Well known for his fearless cross-examination and excellent closing speeches, Janick is a first choice in challenging cases, difficult situations and for defendants who face overwhelming evidence.

Janick’s tactical skills can be called upon early in a case, sometimes even before a client is charged. His attention to detail and desire to prepare thoroughly to meet and address potential difficulties are well recognised and assist in the provision of an all-round top-class service.

A master of the narrow the defence, of running the implausible, of finding the only way out, Janick can win where others may not even have seen the line.

Janick works closely with the team and is especially impressive where the client is vulnerable, or where they have much to lose because of the devastating effect the proceedings they face will have upon their lives.  In such circumstances, Janick can be relied upon to overcome those difficulties and achieve the best results.

In an age where many sexual allegations are now dealt with in proceedings heard away from the criminal courts, Janick has demonstrated an ability to advise and provide strong representation in those other arenas, including at school, student and workplace tribunals.

Many of Janick’s cases involve rapes and other sexual offences, cases that require close attention to the many protocols, practice directions and legislative stumbling blocks put in the way of defendants, cases in which Janick’s hard-fought reputation for tenacity, strategic brilliance and courtroom dominance have served his clients well.
